Profile
John Conner was raised in the beautiful Flathead Valley of northwestern Montana. When not reading or drawing, he could be found exploring the local woods and nearby Glacier National Park by foot, horseback, or canoe.
While attending college, John explored many areas of study (i.e., Architecture, History, Political Science, Ethics, and Fine Arts), and served as president of the campus art club and co-chair of the local Art Against AIDS charity auction. At the Rocky Mountain School of Photography, John’s impressionist photograph, “Team Work,” was chosen as a Best Of Show for his graduating class.
Post-college, John spent a short time apprenticing with a noted sculptor. Working in retail management, John was regularly recognized for top sales and excellence in customer service. In early 2000, John took a graphic design position with a local newspaper where he quickly established a reputation for high production volume and quality.
Upon moving to Colorado Springs in late 2000, John worked as Desktop Publisher for a commercial printer and increased sales of custom design, and developed and implemented digital asset and archive policies.
In May 2001, John accepted an in-house design position with the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA). Proving his value, John quickly earned promotion to Creative Services Manager. John worked to modernize the visual brand; the revitalized brand was soon imitated by several competitors. In the fall of 2008, John was tasked with rebranding an acquired company. John and his team successfully rebranded more than 300 products and collateral assets in less than eight weeks.
From 2003 to the present, John has applied his skills to freelance and pro bono work for several small businesses, non-profits, and NGBs; he continues to seek career, business, and learning opportunities in design and creative management.
